Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ outside sales experience ideally in the field of solar monitoring
  • Track record of accountability and achievement of sales objectives
  • Preparation of account development plans and meeting reports
  • Experience using Word, Excel and CRM software
  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing or business administration or equivalent number of years of experience   

Skills to be successful:

  • An engineering degree or background in electrical engineering is preferred.
  • Self-driven, highly organized and capable of quickly learning new products, processes and systems
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability and confidence to interact with executive level decision makers
  • Ability to explain products to novices as well as technical professionals
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work and contribute as an effective team player in a competitive sales environment.

This position requires a minimum of 50% travel.

Tech Support Engineer

meteocontrol North America is seeking a full-time Tech Support Engineer. 

Responsibilities:

  • Telephone support for commissioning and establishment of the meteocontrol-monitoring system for PV-systems
  • Answering of technical inquires via e-mail (Trouble ticket systems ORTS)
  • Error analysis and development of solutions in cooperation with the development department
  • Plant setup for customers in online-portal of meteocontrol
  • Customer support and project engineering of process and control technology for PV systems
  • Clearance of requirements with the customer, utilities and grid operators
  • Integrate data from multiple vendors and protocols to create cost effective and technically suitable product solutions given client requirements
  • Collaborate with Sales and Operations teams on internal and customer projects
  • Technical assistance of the Sales department in quote preparation
  • Implementation of product tests to market launch
  • Control of system simulation and error-handling
  • Design of monitoring systems for photovoltaic systems from conceptual design through implementation
  • System specific layout design and detailed planning of monitoring system and feed-in management
  • Generation of specific system documentation in the form of protocols and CAD circuit design plans
  • Travel to client offices and plant locations in North America for installation and commissioning of monitoring system and feed-in management on-site
  • Defect analysis and correction with the customer on-site if necessary

This is a full-time position based out of Buffalo Grove, IL and requires approximately 75% time in office and 25% travel.

Qualifications:

  • Completed Bachelors in Engineering: Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering
  • Solar and DC power concepts Ability to read and decipher engineering plans and comments
  • Ability to read technical RFP’s and respond accordingly
  • Basic CAD and Drafting knowledge BUS and low voltage communication protocols
  • Local Area Network communication protocols
  • Familiarity with electrical and communication testing equipment and procedures
  • Position requires a strong technical aptitude
  • Able to quickly learn and understand new technologies
  • Outstanding customer service skills (via phone, e-mail, chat, and in person)
  • Ability to provide accurate and timely response and resolution to customer issues over the phone or electronically
  • Ability to travel to customer locations in North America for commissioning and to resolve technical issues
  • Ability to adapt work schedule to accommodate customers in different U.S. time zones or participate in conference calls with global tech support team
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and be able to obtain a passport to travel internationally

Preferred Skills:

  • Fluent in Spanish on a professional level
  • Power Management theories (power control and reactive power)
  • Information Technology tenets (networking, security, firewalls, fiber optics)
  • Programming skills: SQL, PERL, MATLAB, python
  • Database and statistical analysis to find trends and provide summation reports
  • Knowledgable in the concepts of batteries and electrical storage
